Red Oak 1 Common Grade Flooring

Red Oak #1 Common

Red oak is one of the most popular species for wood floors emitting a natural reddish hue, with “Northern” red oak being more uniform in color than other regions. The #1 common grade of red oak has a slightly more open grain pattern which causes a little more dramatic color variation in the overall appearance of the floor giving it an interesting look. Red oak takes stain colors exceptionally well.

Grade Description:
This grade of red oak contains prominent variations in coloration along with small knots and streaks. This is a true traditional flooring choice much sought after and installed into homes as early as the late 1800s and early 1900s and still remains a popular choice.
