Reclaimed Hardwood Flooring From a Different Era
The turn of the 18th century was one of the most exciting times in American history. At the start, Meriwether Lewis and William Clark, along with the Corps of Discovery, left on an expedition. It would be over three years before those who survived returned home. This adventure signaled the U.S.'s willingness as a nation to head west and set a march of progress into motion that would transform the country forever.
Lewis and Clark returned as heroes, and before long, settlers were heading west in droves. For many, this was an opportunity to achieve the American dream, and the government encouraged them with laws such as the Land Act of 1820 and the Homestead Act. These pioneering folk had only themselves to rely on. When they needed to erect barns, homes and other buildings, they had to chop down the trees that stood tall on the land and produce their own lumber.
After standing for over 100 years, the structures built by early Americans began to come down in favor of modern designs. The opportunity presented itself and these buildings were carefully dismantled. These barns, factories and other buildings were preserved, their gorgeous aged wood ready for eco-friendly use as reclaimed hardwood flooring. Our Historic Lewis & Clark plank reclaimed flooring is made with lumber used to erect those buildings and inspired by these famed events.
Unique Reclaimed Hardwood Flooring That Tells a Story
This reclaimed flooring is living history. These planks were made using classic techniques that left attractive saw marks you can both see and feel. Where these boards once had nails, they now have dark nail holes you will enjoy hunting down. Additional checking and sound cracks add layers of authenticity. Perhaps the most impressive feature of our Historic Lewis & Clark plank reclaimed flooring is the stunning aged patina these boards developed after years of exposure to hard work, livestock and the elements.
